Ferrule is the most important component of fiber optic connectors. It could be made of different materials, such as plastics, stainless steel, and ceramics. Most of the ferrules used in optical connectors are made of ceramic material due to some of the desirable properties they possess. These include low insertion loss required for optical transmission, remarkable strength, small elasticity coefficient, easy control of product characteristics, and strong resistance to changes in environmental conditions.

Equipped with modern technologies and highly automated machines purchased from Japan, Taicera - a Marubeni Sunnyvale trading partner - is one of the nine main ferrule manufacturers in the world which can produce ferrule fiber optic connectors from ceramic powder and also the only one corporation capable of making ceramic ferrules in Taiwan.

The production process is an extremely complex one, which begins with injecting zirconium-dioxide powder into pre-designed molds. The work-in-process is degreased, burned, reduced and ground, and then to become finished ceramic ferrules.

Currently, we make ceramic SC and APC ferrule, while also developing the MU and LC types.
